Jimmy
Pedro Interview - Part 9
'I fight in a league in Europe. I fight
for a German team and they have a ten-point scoring system -
first guy to ten wins the match. There's no ippon - they take the Japanese
stuff and they add a lot of flare to it. It's a whole show.
It's a team match, but it's a show.
There's music, there's girls dancing, there's smoke, there's lights. It's
announced. The stadium is packed with people and horns and bells and all
kinds of stuff. The guys wear very colorful gis.
I have
a black and yellow judo uniform that
I wear for the German team. That's not allowed in U.S. competition. But
they have a lot of flare and style, and they've changed the rules so that
it's more spectator-friendly. They've had a lot of success. Judo
is big in Europe.' |
